Managerial Course QBCC

Overview

The QBCC Managerial Course provides the learner with the required business and management skills to qualify to apply for a trade contractor or nominee supervisor licence with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). The compact course addresses finance management, contract management, risk management, operations in a business, and the legal obligations of running or managing a trade business in Queensland.

Participant Eligibility

An Eligible Participant for this Program

MUST BE:

  • an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident; or
  • a Participant who has the right to work in Australia on a valid VISA prescribed by Construction Skills Queensland and has been employed in the Building and Construction Industry for a period of 6 months or more, and is
  • an Eligible Worker in Queensland, or is
  • an unemployed Eligible Worker who has been unemployed for a period not greater than 6 months in Queensland.

MUST NOT BE:

  • an Employee of an Authority;
  • currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program;
  • a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of an RTO;
  • funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this Program;
  • funded for more than eight (8) Short Courses under this Program (either in Building Specific and/or Civil Specific) in the same Program period;
  • funded for more than three (3) high risk work (HRW) Units of Competency (excluding Asbestos Units of Competency) in the same Program period;
  • a Participant seeking a Verification of Competency.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements for this course; however,

  • Minimum age of 18 years or above
  • Must produce a valid government-issued photo identification
  • Must be able to comprehend business documentation and fill out written tests
  • Basic mathematical skills are needed for financial and operational operations

This course is designed for individuals looking to obtain or upgrade a QBCC licence, including:

  • Trade contractors starting their own business
  • Supervisors or managers within construction companies
  • Sole traders looking to meet QBCC licensing requirements

Award Issued

Upon completion, you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for:

  • BSBESB402 Establish legal and risk management requirements of new business ventures

Recertification Requirements

There is no official expiration of this qualification. Nevertheless, applicants must always verify the latest QBCC requirements at the time of applying for or renewing a licence.
